Princess Phoebe's arrival on 30th September 2006

Phoebe Tan Yuyi, our precious little baby arrived two weeks earlier than expected...My edd was 16 Oct 2006. Earlier on in the morning, I just went for my normal review at Thomson. Dr WK Tan had mentioned that I've yet to dilated and baby is fine and gaining weight, she suspected that my baby is going to be at least 4kg as there are two more weeks to go!

Well, so life goes on as per normal as usual, I went to my sis hse to help out taking care of Jayden. During noon, I spotted some blood stain when I went to the toilet. I decided to monitor a while before I call up the nurse to check..It was later in the afternoon that I started to have this weird sensation in the lower part of my body. My sis with the experience and all, suggested I take note of the frequency and duration in case this is the so called contraction. Well, I heed her advice, really took out a pen, a piece of paper and my watch, sat down on the sofa and started to monitor closely. The sensation was getting stronger and frequency was longer...this time round, my sis told me to give the nurse a call to clear my doubts. The nurse had advise me to pack my bag and head to the hospital right away..My hubby was actually on his way to United Square with his colleagues (they had organised a farewell dinner for one of his colleagues). Upon hearing my call, he dropped off his colleagues and headed back home to me.

It was almost 9pm when we reached Thomson. Dr WK Tan was already waiting for me. I kept asking myself " Am I really going to give birth today?" I was nervous (so afraid of the birth pain and thinking abt my baby's birth date, why today and nt tomorrow..cos our ROM anni so coincidentally falls on tomorrow! Can you believe that??!)
It was around 11pm when I stared to feel the real contraction taking place...no words can expressed my pain that moment..( the scenario was exactly what happened most of the times on tv). I kept inhaling the "laughing gas" ..well, that helps a little..and the nurse suggested I take the epidural. I clinched to the bed, gritted my teeth, held my hubby's arm tightly and insisted NO to epidural!

Finally I gave birth to my 3.19kg baby girl at 1.05am, Sat, 30th September 2006. I was so proud of myself. Natural delivery without epidural and yes, our princess's birthday falls on our ROM anniversary. It was the happiest day of our life!
